Owen Sean Mattson is Born! (10/13/08)

Well, I know it's been a very long time since I have updated this thing, but here is my story of when Owen came into this world...
I'm not sure if many people noticed that I disappeared in September, but I was having SEVERE back pains and could not walk! I was getting very worried and kept bugging my doctor to tell me that this was more than pregnancy pains; but he kept saying the same thing to me, "even if it is more, we can't find out until after the baby comes." Oh well. After a month of no sleep, and I'm not lying when I say NO sleep. I was in so much pain and so uncomfortable that I would doze off for about 5-10 minutes every 3-4 hours! September and October were absolutely miserable! Anyway, after a month of no sleep and the worst pain I have ever felt and lots of Braxton Hicks contractions, it was finally time.
I started feeling contractions around 12:30 AM on October 13, 2008. They weren't strong, so I waited and timed them. After a couple hours went by, they were getting stronger and closer together. I informed Sean that "it was time"..."this is it." We hurried to the car and drove 40 minutes to the hospital. We arrived around 5:30 AM and when we got there I was 5 1/2 cm dialated!! Then, about 10 minutes later, as I was changing into my rob, my water broke! Haha...it was really weird. It felt like I was peeing my pants, but it wouldn't stop! They put me in my room and around 7:20 AM I requested an epidural. My back was hurting more than anything and I really just wanted something to help with the pain. After the epidural, life was nice and pain free...for a little while. It wore off!!! At around 10:30 AM, I told the nurse that I think the pain meds were wearing off and I needed another dose. She came in about 5 minutes later and checked me...I was ready to push! When she told me that, I looked at Sean and said, "I'm so scared." I was! I had no idea what to expect. (Little did I know that giving birth was the least of my worries) So the doctor and other nurses came in and I started pushing at 10:40ish...and at 10:52 AM, Owen Sean Mattson greeted the world! He was 20 inches long and weighed 8 lbs 7 oz and was absolutely perfect. When the nurse put him on me right after he came out, all I could say was, "Oh my gosh...I just had a baby!" My life felt so complete...I was so happy. (again, little did I know things were about
to change) Owen is a great baby. He only cries when he's hungry, tired, or needs his diaper changed. From the day we brought him home, he only wakes up once in the night eat and goes right back to bed. I'm sure the Lord blessed us with such a great baby since he new what was about to happen...
After Owen was born, my doctor said all my pains would go away. Nope, everything got worse! I had x-rays done and that was it...I was off to see a spine specialist at a hospital in Oakland.
