Boy oh boy! What a busy and exhausting weekend it was. Our weekend began on Friday evening...after I got of work early (yay!) I went home and napped. Then Sean and I picked up Owen from daycare and we went to dinner before Sean left for work at 6:00pm. After Sean left, Owen and I just hung out and got some stuff done. We made rice crispy treats, did some laundry, played, watched a movie and went to bed. Saturday was extra fun because we had a birthday party to go to that morning. Our friends Brittany and her two-year old Jackson came over to pick us up. The car ride was so cute...Owen and Jack were so funny together. At the party, which was a bounce house place, the kiddos all had so much fun just running around and jumping all over everything. After the fun, they enjoyed pizza and cake and then the party was over. Just in time for naps!!
Well, Owen didn't actually fall asleep for a while, but when he did he was out for a good 3 hours. He woke up a little after 6 pm! (not a good idea) He ended up staying up ALL NIGHT that night because he wasn't tired and then he needed to poop but wouldn't. So he would lie in bed whining and complaining that his butt hurt. Well, no sleep for Owen means no sleep for mama either! And a pregnant mama really needs her sleep!! Owen did finally doze off around 5:40ish but at 6:45, he was up and ready for his day! Then Sean came home that morning and could not believe we were up all night. He felt really bad for me. But I had called my mom and she said she was going to come over and watch Owen for a little bit so I could nap.
When my mom arrived things started smoothly, except for one thing. My screen door has yet to be installed because Sean and I don't have the proper tools, so my mom came over with some tools and her and I got started installing. Haha, yes, I was suppose to be napping at this point. We filled the pool for Owen and he had a blast playing in the water, and we just worked on the door...the whole afternoon! haha, so no nap happened. After my mom left, Owen fell asleep and so did I!! Wahoo! I napped for about two hours...it was very nice. That night, I made sure Owen and I both went to bed on time...and we did! Because the 4th of July was going to be a busy day.
Independence Day was so much fun! Sean got home from work that morning and went to bed...but he didn't have to work that night, so he was going to join us at my mom's house later! Owen and I went over to my mom's for swimming. Thank goodness too, because it was a hot day! We hung out with my brothers (Josh and Chris) and my mom. We swam and BBQ and just had a great time. Sean called and told me that we were going to go to his friend Sal's place for a BBQ that night. And that was a lot of fun too. I really love get togethers...especially with Sean's friends. Owen loves them too...he sure likes to be the center of attention. Haha. After the BBQ we went to watch Sean and his friends play softball before fireworks. It was fun. Owen really wanted to play too. So Brad took him out and was showing him how to throw and catch. I even got to bat!! I really miss playing sports. It was just a lot of fun. We really need to do stuff like that more often. After the game, we all went our separate ways to watch fireworks. Sean, Owen and I just went home because you can see the fireworks from our front yard. Owen had so much fun watching them. he was so excited. After fireworks it was bedtime for the Mattson family. What a long day it was, but it was so fun. I was so happy to finally have Sean home on a holiday (well, half of a holiday). I even put Owen and a festive little outfit:
I hope that everyone else had a wonderful day celebrating our awesome country's independence! Go America! :-)
