Father's Day!

Well Father's Day this year was very special. It is Sean's last Father's Day with one child and Owen's last Father's Day with Daddy all to himself!!  We had some simple, yet fun things planned for him.  First, we're keeping gifts small this year to save for our new bundle arriving this December, so I asked Sean what he wanted. After some thought, he decided on a new pair of shoes...athletic ones.  So on one of his off days, he went to the store and picked out the ones he wanted. He sent me a picture and the item number/description. Later on in the week, Owen and I went to the store and got him his shoes.  Well, Owen is in this "I wanna call Daddy" phase where he likes to use my phone and call Sean.  So as we were driving from the Nike store to Target, I let Owen call Sean.  I learned that night that children cannot keep secrets...or that two year olds don't know what secrets are. Here was his conversation with his dad:
Sean - "Hello"
Owen - "Hi Daddy!"
Sean - "Hi Bubba! Whatcha doin?"
Owen - "I go to da store with Mama."
Sean - "Yeah, you are?"
Owen - "Yeah, we got Daddy shoes!"
Sean - " Oooohhh, that's cool!"
Mama - "HAHAHAHAHA! Owen! That was a secret."
That was pretty much the conversation. Owen just told Sean what we were getting. It was so funny. He already knew that I was going to get those, but still, it was just so funny that Owen just told him. At least he didn't tell him his other gifts.  Owen had picked out a "Daddy, I love you" book that him and Sean can read together. And I got Sean "Battle : LA" on Blu-ray.  Also, since it is a very special Father's Day for them both, I made Sean (and Owen) a DVD slide show of their years together! I put Owen's favorite song and another cute song on it and found all the pictures of Sean and Owen I could and also some really cute ones of Owen and made the slide show. It was about 7-8 minutes long and I think it was pretty cute. I had never made a DVD before but it was really neat showing it on the big screen!

So back to Father's Day...Sean left for work on Saturday night.  We said our good-byes and Sean asked me if I was going to clean the house.  Haha, I have been EXTREMELY bad at this lately and poor Sean as done EVERYTHING! I told him that we'll see.  Usually I tell him I'm going to clean and then it never happens because I either fall asleep or get side tracked. Then I asked him that if there was one thing he wanted cleaned, if I couldn't do it all, what would it be. He chose the bedroom! Haha, our bedroom was cleaned up for Mother's Day but both of us are really bad at keeping it that way. We have a pile of dirty clothes and then after laundry day, the clean clothes always make it to our room but never make it to their drawers. haha.  Plus, my shoes never seem to make it back to their appropriate places either. So tonight was the night that I was going to make Sean's wish come true!

Owen and I (mostly just me) cleaned the downstairs.  I mean cleaned...it was spotless!  Everything was put away and it looked great!  But by the time we finished, it was pretty late and we were both pretty tired.  We made our way upstairs to get started on the bedroom and...I fell asleep! Ahhh!  But not to worry, I woke up early on Sunday and cleaned it!!  Our house looked absolutely wonderful!  After I finished, I got ready for church and woke up Owen and got him ready as well.  Then we hurried downstairs for Sean's arrival.  We put all the gifts out on the table and got breakfast ready...so when he walked in everything would be perfect and ready to go! And it was!  Happy Father's Day Sean!! He was very impressed when he walked in.  As soon as he came in we sat him on the couch to watch his DVD!  I think he liked it.  After that we opened gifts, he was happy to get them.  But I could see there was some concern in his face.  He asked, "The downstairs looks awesome, but you didn't clean the bedroom, huh?"  I just told him that he'd have to see for himself.  He was double impressed!! Wahoo! I love making him happy. :-)  We had a nice dinner that evening and just enjoyed time together as a family before he left for work.

I am so grateful for Sean and all that he does for our family.  He is a wonderful man and such an amazing father to Owen.  I am so excited that we will be adding on to our family and making even more memories together.  I hope he knows just how much we love and appreciate him.

(sorry, no pictures...i was so bad about taking them that day.)
